SWEATERS FOR STAGECOACH

It’s time to be an angel again! November is the time we want to collect sweaters for the residents of Stagecoach Manor. If you would like to participate, there will be a sweater in the Narthex with the names of all the Residents and instructions. Pick your resident, buy a new sweater in their size, wrap it, attach the name and bring it back to the church by December the 7th. Sweaters don’t have to be expensive. Good bargains can be found on sale at Dept. Stores and always at Wal-Mart, Family Dollar, or Roses, etc. I’ve found great deals for less than $15 at those places. Thank you!

Children’s Ministry News

Playground Update:
Be sure to buy your tickets for the “Glory Hallelujah’s” Talent Night on November 15th at the Church at 7 p.m. All proceeds go toward our playground fund. We will have our drawing for the Nintendo Wii that night. Thank you for everyone who supported us during the pumpkin sale. If you have any questions, please contact Ginny Wellington or Amy Hoyes. Please take a moment to look at our new thermometers around the church showing where we are on our playground fundraising goals.

Christmas Play:
We will start our practices on Saturday November 22 at 9 a.m. at the church. So if you have signed up to participate please be present for the rehearsals. Our play will be December 14 at 7 p.m. followed by a visit from the jolly guy in the red suit (Santa!!) . All those participating are asked
to turn in your permission slips to Barb Hughes (331-8065) or Amy Hoyes (331-8063) by
November 5th. We are seeking those ages 4 to 18 who would like to be in our Christmas play.

Children's Ministry: 13 kids and 5 adults from the KPC and Tweens classes took goodie bags to Stage Coach Manor on Oct 29th. They brought some cheer to the residents there and sang “Jesus Loves Me” to them.

Youth News
Thank you for supporting the Pumpkin Patch. On our first try we made over $2,100. Many thanks to Wayne and Carol Moniz , Cynthia Woodard, C. B. Banks, and all our youth and others who helped make this a great success.

Young Adult Ministry

YAMS- We met at Virginia and Everett Blake's home for a October Halloween gathering. We all took a hayride and had some fun, food and fellowship. Thirteen young adults were there and the kids had a good time playing with each other as well.

NEW WEBSITE

( www.angierumc.org ) Nick Kesick is working on giving us a new website. This week it will be becoming the website you will see from now on.  Please take a moment to visit the new site; give him your feedback and information at webaumc@embarqmail.com.  A lot of information is needed ASAP to complete the site, and there are many more additions planned for the coming months.

Charge Conference News
We met at Coats UMC on October 22nd for our Charge Conference. After worshipping with
our neighbors at Coats, we met with Sam Wynn our District Superintendent. New officers
were elected for 2009, and we approved our budget of $202,472. We approved our Building
Study Report recommendations to move ahead and elect a Building Committee to draw up
plans for a new building at Angier UMC. The Lay Leadership Committee will meet soon to
elect these persons, and we will begin again to dream of what we need to build to be in mis-
sion for Christ in Angier. Some other highlights from the Conference were: the new young
adult group begun this year, the 27 in our Experiencing God Study, the hiring or a new pianist
for the 8:30am service, the new addition of the LCD Projector in the sanctuary for worship,
the addition of the Youth Room behind the Church, the work and ministry of our Lay Shep-
herds and Leaders among us, the excellent Vacation Bible School, the Wonderful Wednesday
nights with many persons and groups helping us, the new members whom we have received
this year into the life of our church, the commitment of our congregation to take part in the
Healthy Congregations Initiative, and much more.

November Happenings

  • We look forward to the “Glory Hallelujahs” Talent Program on November 15th. Many persons
are planning to take part and I understand that we have two Gospel Groups coming. It will be
an evening to remember, and many, many tickets are going on sale. Make sure that you mark
your calendars for this special evening.
  • Christian Education Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, November 16th, as we give thanks to
God for our Sunday School Teachers and those who lead our Bible Studies.
  • We are expecting the Community Thanksgiving Service to be held on Sunday, November 23rd
at 7:00pm, at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church, and Pastor Mike will bring the message.
  • Advent begins November 30th. We look forward to our preparing for Christ’s coming. Each Sunday
we will be lighting a candle as we draw nearer to God’s incarnation among us.

POINSETTIAS

Now is the time to place an order for a Christmas Poinsettia. Cost is $6.00, and they will be in the
Sanctuary from December 13 to 21. Please remember to take your poinsettia home with you to
enjoy after our service on the 21st.
